Purpose
We study in dependable computer systems and VLSI devices.
There are lots of information devices and gadgets around us, e.g. PC, appliances, cell-phones, PDA, video games, music players, digital cameras, car navigation system, and so on. The devices provide us a good life. These are composed of computer systems, and the systems are made up of VLSIs.Improving technologies related to computer systems and VLSIs brings us a better life.
In general, manufactured computer systems and VLSI devices are not dependable. They may crash. They may have already been broken down before shipment. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the dependability of computer systems and VLSIs by using fault and defect tolerant technologies. Dependable computing technology is one of technologies which is strongly requested by the industrial world together with design productivity improvement and miniaturization technologies.
